The Leh Ladakh is the largest province of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh is covered by the mountains of the Himalayas in the North and south. The lots of special features of Ladakh are its uplands, craggy, barren cliffs, and plateaus. Ladakh is dry and cold but yet very beautiful, and a short, hot summer when the precious glaciers melt.
History of Leh -Ladakh
The rock carvings are found in many parts of Ladakh, that indicates the area has been inhabited from Neolithic times. The 1st century around, Ladakh was a part of the Kushan Empire. Buddhism spread into western Ladakh from Kashmir in the 2nd century when much of eastern Ladakh and western Tibet was still , the religion. In the 7th century Buddhist traveller, Xuanzang describes the region in his accounts. According to Rolf Alfred Stein, author of Tibetan Civilization, the Zhangzhung area was not a part of Tibet historically and was a distinctly foreign territory to the Tibetans.

Summers
The summer season is in Mid- May when the snow starts to melt. In the Mid-June, Ladakh does not get a large number of tourists. With a pleasant 30℃ or more, July to August can be easily called the best period to visit Ladakh. It is during these months, the snow melts completely, and the roads remain unblocked and a lot safer.
Winters
In October month is the beginning of the cold season of winter in Ladakh. Winter season longer is a period than summer in Ladakh. However, adventure peoples find reasons enough to visit Ladakh in winter as well. The average temperature in Ladakh dip as low as -15℃ when even the rivers and lakes freeze and the motorable routes are no more accessible. In fact the two main mountain passes namely, Rohtang (Manali-Leh) and Zoji La (Srinagar-Leh) that connect Leh with other parts of India by road also close down.
Best Time to Visit Leh -Ladakh
Being a high altitude destination, Ladakh experiences only two type of weather, summer and winter. Though intermittent rains are always the possibility, there are no periods that can be named as monsoon season. With rapidly growing tourism in Ladakh, better transport facilities and travellers’ interest in attempting something extraordinary have made Ladakh a destination ideal for both summer and winter season. While most of the people like to visit Ladakh during the summers season i.e June to September, the adventure junkies challenge themselves in winters between October and April.
How to reach Leh -Ladakh
The dream destination for most travelers in India is Ladakh, remains thronged with tourists to beat the summer heat. But it's not reachable throughout the year, for all those visitors to planning Ladakh, Can’t reach there by road during the winter season. But by airways is easily reachable.
BY ROAD
Leh Ladakh is reachable by road only during the summer season. The NH 1 and Zoji La are closed in the winter due to heavy snowfall. Buses and taxis are easily available from Kargil, and Srinagar to reach Ladakh. And the second option is road trips from Delhi to Leh Ladakh via Chandigarh and Manali are quite a famous adventure activity.
BY TRAIN
Jammu is the nearest railway station to Ladakh, Jammu is well connected with all the metropolitan cities of India. Jammu railway station to Leh is no any direct buses.
BY AIR
In Ladakh has its own airport - Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, which is also one of the highest commercial airports in the world at 3,256 m (10,682 ft) above sea level. From the airport, tourists can easily get a car to reach any destination in Ladakh or their accommodation.
